Welcome Family Tree

After a lengthy spell in "cyber-wilderness", the website has returned - a new location and a new look.

The site has also now found a permanent home (it was previously at www.jdraine.co.uk). This latest incarnation is still in its infancy and I will be adding to it on a daily basis.

Raineweb has been produced to augment my family research and hopefully provide help for other genealogists who share similar surname or geographical interests.
Since the original site began life in February 2002, I have been amazed by the number of visitors and perhaps more importantly, the number of people researching similar surnames.

Now 3 years on and following a lengthy "sabbatical", I felt that it was time to overhaul a few areas of the website and add my latest findings. The research has continued, albeit limited (the day job tends to get in the way) and I have made progress, particularly with my RAINE line.

Major Family Lines
It may be a big task, but I decided to launch into the research of four key families, the maternal and paternal sides of both my family and my wife's family.

RAINE - my paternal line, predominantly from County Durham, particularly the Bishop Auckland area.

COOK(E) - my maternal line seems to originate from the Loddon area of Norfolk.

PEMBERTON - my wife's paternal line which also seems to point to the County Durham area.

DODSWORTH - This is my wife's maternal line. Again, this seems to be a northern family line.
